Who Can Apply:

Juniors enrolled within an accredited college or university. (Business and marketing majors are preferred, but all majors will be considered.)

Business Internship Program Outline

Each intern is assigned a real-life project that focuses on their assigned business area of the company. At the end of the summer, interns present their project to senior management. Interns are also provided opportunities to learn about all areas within Brown Shoe Company through informational meetings and one-on-one experiences based on individual interest. Areas may include:

  • Product Development
  • Sourcing
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Merchandising
  • Customer Service
  • Asset Management
  • Human Resources
  • Strategic Planning

Sample of Project Assignments (from previous internships) include:

WORK ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN FOR A NEW BRAND Interns spent time in our Wholesale Naturalizer division, followed by time in our Social Media department. During this project, interns worked on leveraging social media for a developing brand.

WORK ON THE MULTI-CHANNEL MESSAGING FOR FAMOUS FOOTWEAR Interns worked in the Direct-to-Consumer department while collaborating with Famous Footwear. The interns developed a comprehensive multi-channel messaging strategy for Famous Footwear’s stores and website through the exploration of other retailers’ multi-channel platforms.
