Jason’s been making Shoe Lasts at Brown Shoe for about 7 years. The fit of a shoe depends on the design, shape and volume of the Shoe Last which represents the anatomical information of the foot, at the same time giving the finished shoe a pleasing and fashionable appearance. Our company is one of the few left in the United States that have its own model shop.
The Footwear Innovation Team collaborates on new comfort concepts, product innovations and provides a range of consulting services to the select brands they support. F.I.T. employs a problem led and consumer insight based approach to generate its proven and tested concepts. They also host the company’s comfort lab. Here, the team puts new shoes through an assessment process, which allows them to determine how the new footwear measures up to Brown Shoe Company’s comfort standards
Brown Shoe’s photography studio is home to a team that includes Brigham, pictured here. Brigham has a keen sense of composition and their team literally works on dozens of advertising and marketing shoots every week. Collaborating with creative partners to create a look and feel is particularly important when shooting footwear, in order to distinguish what will set your brand apart from the competition. Their team is also proficient with photo editing and graphic designing software programs and they never stop experimenting to keep up with the latest trends and techniques.
Flavio visits new material shows around the globe (New York, Italy and the Far East) searching for valuable leathers for the most current footwear trends. There are multiple technical aspects to leather materials which require specific expertise in order to make the best choices for product. These choices are imperative to the success of Brown Shoe’s brands and ultimately to our consumers.

Fast-paced, innovative and out-of-the-box, they offer support for Brown Shoe’s sales, marketing, branding and public relations departments, to name few. They also make our numerous annual shoe shows chic, exciting and fashion-forward.
Karlee and Michelle, Direct To Consumer buyers, are charged with filling the e-shelves with exciting trend-right footwear selections. This team is not only fashion savvy, but is also particularly skilled with vendor and supplier negotiations; take our shoes.com brand for example, which is home to so many brands for men, women and kids. Shoes.com product mix ranges from the comfort consumer to the fashionista and everything in-between. Shoes.com also offers social media buffs trend- rite tips, brand spotlights and engaging contests and giveaways.
Ongoing training and classes are a big part of Brown Shoe’s culture. Meet Ami who is conducting a training course on an aspect of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP). Using a Super Sheet Move UP Report is a tool which allows salespeople and customer service representatives to quickly determine when product will be in the warehouse and available to sell.
